Just a quick note about rupiah. You CAN take rupiah in and out of Indonesia. There used to be a 50,000rp limit, but it has recently been raised to something in the millions. For anyone who wants to get some before they go, be aware that you'll probably get a pretty bad exchange rate but if it makes you happy to already have some (say maybe 100,000rps to cover a taxi from the airport to somewhere) go for it. You may have more success getting it somewhere like Thomas Cook than the banks. Also, although I haven't used the ATM at the airport myself, I'm sure I've read on the forum that there is one in the airport.
